What are the best glute exercises for toning and strength?

I've been trying to build stronger, more defined glutes for a while now, but I'm not sure which exercises will really make a difference. I've heard of squats, lunges, and deadlifts being great for targeting the glutes, but I want to know if there are other options that might be even better.
