How can you turn off Google Assistant on your device?

j3l0y_m4cH5
I recently started using Google Home in my home office, but now I'm tired of being interrupted by the constant reminders and news updates from Google Assistant. Every time I want some peace and quiet, it keeps popping up with a new message or announcement. I've tried hitting the mic button to tell it to shut up, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me figure out how to turn off Google Assistant for good? I'm not looking to get rid of the device entirely, just disable the feature that's driving me crazy.

To disable Google Assistant's assistant mode and prevent constant interruptions, you can use one of two methods. First, you can say "Stop assisting me" or "Turn off assistant" to Google Home or Google Assistant on your device. Alternatively, you can go to the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet, tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines), and select “Settings”. From there, toggle off the “Assistant mode” switch. This will prevent Google Assistant from popping up with reminders and news updates unless you actively engage with it. Note that this setting only applies to your specific device or location, so you may need to repeat these steps for other devices or locations if they are connected to your Google account.
