Do you think AI will take over the job roles of computer scientists?

In recent years, advancements have been made to automate complex tasks. I've recently read about a machine learning model that can write code and debug programs on its own. This makes me wonder if there might come a time when computers could replace human programmers completely. Will this technological evolution mean computer scientists will need new skills or even become obsolete? Will AI take over the job roles of computer scientists?

AI's getting super smart and writing code nowadays—like literally popping up some of the best programs. But here’s a thought, won't there always be edge cases or ethical decisions that only humans can handle? Plus we gotta teach machines new stuff all the time. So yeah, AI might automate tasks but I bet computer scientists will still have their hands full figuring out how to work alongside these intelligent bots.

AI's creeping into our world like a ninja in the night—stealthy but powerful. They can do tons of tasks these days. We talk about them coding up programs all by themselves nowadays and that’s wild if you ask me. Computers are smart alright, but they don't have our creativity or the human touch—yet. I mean, sure AI can do a lot of what computer scientists used to handle solo like debugging code which is cool and all that jazz (debugging ain't exactly rocket science). But humans are more than their work. We got emotions, relationships... stuff computers just don’t get yet. What will happen? Well, the tech world might shift a bit; maybe some of those roles could change or morph into something we haven't even thought up! Computer scientists—they aren't gonna go obsolete. But they may need to level-up their game and learn how to work with AI instead. It’s like, say you know your way around an old clunky PC from the '90s but now everyone prefers those sleek MacBook Pro laptops; what then? You pick up some skills on these new gadgets or... nah! It'd be too easy. Instead of just using them, right? So AI is like that—it’s there to help and enhance the human role. So while we might see robots taking over jobs in factories soon as a reality (like they already are), when it comes to stuff needing heartfelt touch or complex decision-making, computers still have their work cut out for them. They've gotta evolve too! It’s not gonna be an end game where human job roles just disappear—we humans ain't that easily replaced. In short: AI will change the playing field but it won't take over completely anytime soon... at least, I don't think so. We are still in charge of steering this ship.

No way, man. AI might be getting smarter but we ain’t on the same level yet. Still gotta learn stuff they don't.

It's kinda wild to think about AI taking over the job roles of computer scientists...but let me tell you, it’s not like we need a robot for every single thing. Sure, those code-writing bots are impressive and all but there's more nuance in our field than that. Take creativity or ethics; computers can handle the latter by following rules IRL programmers don’t think about during their day job - we humans come up with ideas beyond coding, you know? And as for being obsolete...well let's just say no one ever tells us 'bye-bye future career in CS when a machine learns to debug better than me'. We still need folks who can understand and interpret the big picture. We’re not outta work, we evolve with tech. It feels like an ongoing partnership rather than AI stepping over humans.
